The cone crusher mantle support ring body is the load path between the mantle and the head assembly in a cone crusher. It carries the conical seat that locates the mantle, the outer flange that takes the clamping ring, and the bore that registers on the head. Fabricated rolled plate rings fail in a predictable way: the circumferential welds crack under the reversing load of the eccentric, the seat goes out of round, and the bore drifts until the mantle rocks and wears unevenly across the crushing face. A one-piece investment casting removes every seam from that load path, and a CNC finish pass on the conical seat and register bore restores the geometry that the drawing calls for.

Key features
- Hadfield Mn13 work-hardens from roughly 200 HB in the water quenched condition to more than 500 HB at the loaded contact surface, so the ring gets harder exactly where the mantle bears on it.
- One-piece cast body removes three circumferential weld seams and the post-weld stress relief and straightening operations that follow them in a rolled plate ring.
- Conical seat and register bore are finish turned in one datumed setup, holding seat runout within 0.15 mm to the bore axis and ending the bore drift that lets a mantle rock.
- Solution annealing followed by water quenching from about 1050 C puts the austenitic structure in the fully solutioned condition, with furnace charts recorded for every load.
- Section thickness is held uniform through the flange to seat transition, removing the hot spot that produces shrinkage porosity in thick welded ring joints.
- Cast lifting lug pads and clamp bolt bosses are produced net shape, cutting machining time and keeping grain flow aligned with the crushing load path.
- Charpy V-notch impact energy is recorded at the customer’s specified test temperature, and wear behaviour is evaluated on coupons to the abrasion test method the customer names.
Applications
- Primary and secondary cone crushers in hard rock aggregate and quarrying plants.
- Tertiary and quaternary cone crushers in mineral processing and concentrator circuits.
- Mobile and track mounted crushing plants where ring weight and balance affect transport and setup.
- Cement and lime works raw material crushing lines handling abrasive limestone and clinker.
- Slag, foundry return and ferro-alloy crushing duty where impact loading dominates.
- Recycling and demolition waste crushing lines with tramp metal and mixed feed.
Quality & compliance
Ningbo Ruican operates under IATF 16949 and works to ISO 9001 documented process control for every crushing wear part programme. Each shipment carries EN 10204 3.1 material certification tied to the melt heat number, together with heat treatment furnace charts, a Brinell hardness survey taken at defined positions across the seat and flange, and dimensional reports generated against the ballooned drawing. PPAP and FAIR packages are available where the customer requires them. Abrasion, impact and non-destructive examination are performed to the test method, acceptance level and sample size stated in the customer specification, with results reported rather than assumed.
FAQ
Can you work from a worn sample if we have no drawing?
Yes. Send the used ring or a worn fragment and we will 3D scan it, reconstruct the geometry, and agree the fit and datum scheme with you before tooling is cut. We flag areas where the original part has worn away so the new casting is built back to intended size, not to the worn profile.
What is the minimum order quantity for a new ring design?
We accept single digit pilot quantities from one tooling set so you can validate fit and wear before committing to a production release. Standard production runs start around 30 to 50 pieces per order, and multi-cavity or repeat tooling is added once annual volume justifies the investment.
Can you cast Mn13 and duplex stainless?
Both. Mn13, Mn13Cr2 and Mn18Cr2 are cast regularly for impact and gouging abrasion duty with controlled water quenching. Duplex grades to ASTM A890/A995, including 4A and 5A, are cast for corrosion plus wear service, with solution annealing and ferrite and corrosion checks to the customer specification.
Do you machine the parts fully in-house?
Yes. Vertical turning, 4-axis and 5-axis milling, CNC turning, drilling and tapping are all in-house, along with heat treatment and surface finishing. Keeping machining under the same roof as the foundry means the machining allowance, datum scheme and inspection report come from one control plan and one accountable team.
What does tooling cost and who owns it?
Tooling is quoted per project, typically in the range of USD 3,000 to 9,000 for a single-cavity tool set of this size, depending on ring diameter and core count. The tool is owned by the customer, and we retain, maintain and store it for repeat orders across the service life of the machine.
