Key features
- Cast as one piece so the oil bath chamber is leak-free without welded seams or separate end plates.
- Spindle bearing bores and blade seat machined in a single setup to hold runout within 0.05 mm.
- 42CrMo quench and temper gives the fatigue strength needed for continuous 3,000 rpm cutterbar operation.
- High-manganese wear steel option work-hardens in service where the head runs through sandy or stony swaths.
- Near-net-shape casting reduces machining allowance to 1-1.5 mm, lowering cycle time and tool cost.
- Supplied machined, primed and balanced-ready for direct assembly into the cutterbar module.
Applications
- Mounted and trailed disc mowers for grass and forage harvesting.
- Front and rear combination mowers on compact and utility tractors.
- Drum and disc mower conditioning units.
- Orchard, vineyard and roadside verge mowers.
- Self-propelled forage harvester header cutterbars.
- OEM cutterbar service and rebuild programmes.
Quality and compliance
Every disc mower cutterbar head housing is produced inside our IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified system. Melt chemistry and mechanical properties are reported on an EN 10204 3.1 certificate linked to the individual heat lot, and heat-lot traceability is kept through quench and temper, machining and packing. PPAP and FAIR packages are prepared on request for serial programmes. Hardness is verified on every heat-treated batch, magnetic-particle inspection is applied to the gear-bearing walls and blade seat area, and coating systems are qualified by ISO 9227 salt-spray testing before release.
FAQs
Can the cutterbar head housing be delivered fully machined and ready to assemble?
Yes. We deliver the housing with spindle bearing bores, blade seat, oil ports and cutterbar mounting face finished, so only gears, bearings and seals are added on your line.
What tolerances can you hold on the gear centre distance?
After CNC machining we routinely hold plus or minus 0.05 mm on centre distance and bearing bore diameter, verified on a CMM and reported with the shipment.
Which material handles stony, abrasive swaths best?
High-manganese wear steel Mn13 / ASTM A128 work-hardens under impact and abrasion and is the better choice for stony ground. 42CrMo is preferred where fatigue strength and shock loading dominate.
Do you balance the housing?
The housing is cast and machined symmetrically and can be delivered balanced to a specified residual unbalance value together with the rotating assembly.
What sealing arrangement do you support?
We machine for double-lip cassette seals or labyrinth arrangements and can include cast-in oil channels and breather bosses to your design.
How are leaks in the oil bath chamber checked?
Housings specified as pressure-tight are 100 percent air-decay or liquid penetrant leak tested; magnetic-particle inspection covers the load-bearing walls.
