Key features
- One-piece lost wax casting replaces fabricated and welded assemblies, removing the heat affected zone around the tool bore.
- 42CrMo quenched and tempered to 28 to 34 HRC core with a wear resistant surface, or high-manganese steel for work hardening service.
- Tool bore and bush seats finished on CNC equipment so bush fit and tool alignment stay consistent across the batch.
- Tie-rod and side-bolt bosses cast with generous radii to reduce stress concentration under impact loading.
- Hardfacing-ready surfaces on the lower wear face for customers applying their own wear overlay.
- Produced from the customer drawing or from a measured sample with reverse engineering support.
Applications
- Hydraulic breakers and demolition hammers from 300 kg to 4 tonne service class.
- Front heads for breakers mounted on 5 to 50 tonne excavators in demolition and quarrying.
- Rock breaking attachments for tunnelling and road construction fleets.
- Secondary breaking in crushing and screening plants and at mine primary crushers.
- Pedestal boom breaker systems at grizzly stations and ore passes.
- Aftermarket and service replacement front heads for breaker rebuild programmes.
Quality and compliance
Ningbo Ruican operates a quality management system certified to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001. Every hydraulic breaker
front head is delivered with an EN 10204 3.1 material certificate tied to a single heat lot number, so the melt,
heat treatment batch and inspection records can be traced back through the whole production route. PPAP and FAIR
documentation packages are prepared on request for OEM customers. Routine verification includes Brinell and
Rockwell hardness testing, Charpy impact testing at the specified test temperature, ultrasonic testing of the
boss and bore regions for internal discontinuities, and magnetic particle inspection of all external surfaces
after final machining. Dimensional reports are issued against the approved drawing with the gauge list and
measurement method stated.
FAQs
What materials do you recommend for a hydraulic breaker front head?
For most medium and large breakers we recommend 42CrMo or AISI 4140, quenched and tempered to the hardness range on
your drawing. Where the head works against highly abrasive rock and benefits from work hardening, high-manganese
steel such as ZGMn13Cr2 is the better choice. We confirm the final grade against your load case and wear pattern.
How is the tool bore accuracy held on a large front head?
The bore is cast with a controlled machining allowance and then finished by CNC boring or milling after heat
treatment. Bore diameter, roundness and concentricity to the mounting faces are checked on the coordinate
measuring machine and reported in the dimensional report.
Can you supply the front head fully machined and ready to assemble?
Yes. We routinely deliver front heads with tool bore, bush seats, seal grooves, tie-rod bores and mounting faces
fully machined, leaving only final assembly to the breaker manufacturer. Partial machining for customers who
prefer to finish in house is also available.
Do you offer wear protection on the lower face?
We supply hardfacing-ready surfaces with a defined pre-machined groove depth, and we can arrange overlay welding
to your specification as part of the supply scope.
What is the usual tooling and sampling lead time?
Typical tooling for a front head pattern and core box is completed in about four to five weeks, with first article
samples and the FAIR or PPAP package following two to three weeks later. Repeat order lead time is normally four to
six weeks depending on quantity and heat treatment.
What information do you need for a quotation?
Send the 3D model or 2D drawing with material grade, hardness and impact requirements, machining locations, annual
volume, and any non-destructive testing specification. A sample part is enough to start if drawings are not
available.
