The vibrating feeder trough end bracket body closes the discharge end of a vibrating grizzly or pan feeder. It ties the trough side plates together, carries the spring or exciter mounting pads, and transmits the full oscillating load into the trough structure at roughly 15 to 25 Hz. The fabricated version is a stack of cut plate and gussets, and it fails the same way every time: fatigue cracks start at the weld toes of the gusset to plate joint and propagate across the side plate within one season. A one-piece ductile iron casting puts continuous radiused fillets at those transitions, spreads the load over a section sized by the foundry, and gets its mounting faces machined flat and parallel so the exciter sits without preload.

Key features
- One-piece cast bracket eliminates the gusset to side plate weld toe where fatigue cracks initiate in fabricated trough ends, removing weld inspection from the maintenance routine.
- EN-GJS-500-7 delivers 170 to 230 HB with minimum 7 percent elongation, giving the bracket the damping capacity to absorb oscillating load that a stiff welded plate stack cannot.
- Exciter mounting face is machined flat within 0.10 mm and parallel to the spring pad plane, so the exciter mounts without shimming and without introducing preload into the housing.
- Cast radiused fillets at every rib junction, with radii sized to the section, remove the sharp corner geometry that concentrates stress under reversing load.
- Spring pad faces are machined to a common plane within 0.12 mm across the pair, keeping spring preload equal and preventing the trough from twisting out of track.
- Dowel bores are finish bored to H7 and position held within 0.10 mm of the mounting datum, so bracket replacement in the field needs no re-fit drilling.
- Fatigue and Charpy impact testing are carried out on separately cast test bars to the method and acceptance level stated in the customer specification.
Applications
- Grizzly and pan feeder discharge ends in aggregate and sand and gravel plants.
- Vibrating screen feed boxes and scalping screen discharge frames.
- Primary crushing plant apron and vibrating feeder installations in mining.
- Biomass and wood waste fuel feeding lines at power and pellet plants.
- Recycling and municipal solid waste sorting plant feeder troughs.
- Cement, lime and mineral processing feeders handling abrasive bulk material.
Quality & compliance
Ningbo Ruican operates under IATF 16949 and works to ISO 9001 documented process control across every feeder and screen programme. Each shipment carries EN 10204 3.1 material certification tied to the melt heat, with separately cast test bar results for tensile strength, elongation and hardness, plus a Brinell hardness survey and dimensional reports against the ballooned drawing. PPAP and FAIR packages are available on request. Ultrasonic or magnetic particle examination, fatigue testing and Charpy impact testing are performed to the method, sample size and acceptance level defined in the customer specification.
FAQ
Can you reverse engineer a bracket from a cracked sample?
Yes. We scan the sample, reconstruct the intended geometry around the crack, and add the section and radius changes needed to move stress away from the failure location. The revised model is returned for your approval before tooling starts, so the fix is agreed on paper rather than discovered in service.
What is the minimum order quantity for a new bracket?
Pilot quantities of five to ten pieces are accepted from a single tooling set for field validation. Production releases normally start at 50 to 100 pieces per order, and where a plant standardises on one bracket across several feeders we quote multi-cavity tooling to hold piece price down.
Can you cast Mn13 and duplex stainless in the same foundry?
Yes. Mn13, Mn13Cr2 and Mn18Cr2 are cast for impact and gouging wear, and duplex grades to ASTM A890/A995 including 4A and 5A are cast for corrosion plus abrasion duty. Both routes run through the same melting and heat treatment control system as our ductile iron and carbon steel work.
Is machining done in-house or subcontracted?
Machining is done in-house. CNC milling, turning, boring and drilling, heat treatment, shot blasting and painting all sit inside the Ningbo facility, so the foundry and the machine shop work to one routecard, one datum scheme and one inspection plan for every bracket.
How is tooling costed for a bracket of this size?
Tooling is quoted per project, typically USD 2,000 to 6,000 for a single-cavity set at this size, depending on overall envelope and whether the rib geometry needs soluble or ceramic cores. The tool belongs to the customer and is retained, maintained and stored for repeat orders.
