Every disc gang on a harrow rides on a bearing — and every bearing sits in a housing that carries the weight of the gang plus the constant pounding of the disc edges through soil. These housings see dirt, moisture, shock and rotating load simultaneously, which is exactly why the industry settled on ductile iron: it combines the castability of iron with the toughness of steel, and it does not shatter under impact the way gray iron can.
Ningbo Ruican produces disc harrow bearing housings in QT450-10 ductile iron (ISO 1083, equivalent to ASTM A536 65-45-12) by investment casting. The process reproduces the housing body with integral flanges, grease-groove seats and bolt bosses in one piece, and the controlled nodular structure of the iron gives consistent hardness across every section — no soft spots in heavy bosses, no chill in thin walls.
After casting, housings are CNC machined at the bearing bore (typically H7–H8 with Ra 1.6 µm) and mounting faces, then supplied with or without the press-fit bearing races. We serve both harrow OEMs building complete gangs and aftermarket parts houses stocking replacement housings for popular widths — from 4-row compact harrows to heavy tandem offset models.

The Ductile-Iron Advantage in the Field
Gray iron housings crack when a disc hits a buried rock; fabricated housings corrode at welds. QT450-10 with verified nodularity absorbs the shock, resists crack propagation, and carries a longer service life per euro of replacement cost. For aftermarket suppliers the practical payoff is fewer warranty returns on the single most-stressed non-wear part of the gang — and for OEMs, housings that machine and assemble identically lot after lot.
