Key features
- Single-piece cast base with integrally cored mounting flange, removing weld seams that crack under repetitive mooring loads.
- Corrosion resistant 316L and duplex 2205 metallurgy for continuous salt spray, splash zone and tidal immersion service.
- CNC machined seating face keeps the bollard foot flat within 0.05 mm so deck loads transfer evenly into the hull structure.
- Bolt hole circle drilled and spot faced to the shipyard drawing, allowing direct drop-in installation without rework.
- Internal ribbing is cast in rather than welded, raising fatigue life at the horn-to-base transition radius.
- Optional drain channels and cathodic protection bosses cast directly into the base to slow crevice corrosion.
- Full material traceability from melt number to finished part with heat lot records retained for the vessel lifetime.
Applications
- Quay and jetty mooring bollards for container and bulk terminals
- Ship deck mooring fittings on tugs, barges and offshore support vessels
- Ferry berth and marina pontoon mooring points
- Single point mooring and buoy chain stopper foundations
- Dockside emergency towing arrangements and bollard retrofits
- Offshore platform and FPSO deck mooring hardware
Quality and compliance
Every mooring bollard base is produced under an IATF 16949 certified quality management system, with chemical composition and mechanical properties reported on an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate. Class-society witness of mechanical testing, non-destructive examination and final dimensional checks can be arranged on request with IACS member societies such as DNV, ABS, LR, BV, CCS and RINA.
FAQ
Q1. Can you cast a bollard base from our existing sample instead of a drawing?
Yes. We reverse engineer your sample by 3D scanning, produce a drawing for your approval, and then build tooling. Sample-based programmes typically reach first article in four to six weeks.
Q2. What is the minimum and maximum size you can cast for a bollard base?
Investment casting suits bases from about 3 kg up to roughly 45 kg. Heavier quay bollards can be supplied as cast base plates with machined pads, or we will advise sand casting if the geometry exceeds our investment casting envelope.
Q3. Do you supply the mating bolts and gaskets?
We supply the cast and machined base as the primary scope. Fasteners, gaskets and isolation pads can be sourced and kitted with the delivery if you want a single line item on the packing list.
Q4. How do you protect the base against crevice corrosion under the flange?
We machine the contact face flat, offer electropolishing to remove free iron, and can cast in drain slots and a sacrificial anode boss. We also supply PTFE or neoprene isolation gaskets for bi-metallic deck connections.
Q5. What documentation ships with each order?
Each order ships with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate, a dimensional inspection report, heat treatment chart and NDT records. Radiographic film or digital images, welding procedure records and class-society release notes are available on request.
Q6. What are typical lead times?
Tooling and samples take four to six weeks from drawing approval. Production repeats run three to five weeks depending on quantity and heat treatment requirements.
