The grain auger flight bearing hanger is the intermediate support that carries the auger shaft between the intake hopper and the discharge spout on a grain cart, dryer or handling auger. It holds a bearing or polymer liner in alignment with the flighting, takes radial load from the shaft and the weight of moving grain, and has to stay aligned while the tube flexes as the spout is raised. Casting gives a one-piece body with stiffening ribs and a split housing reproduced to identical geometry batch after batch, unlike a fabricated bracket that drifts with weld distortion. CNC machining of the bore and mounting faces keeps the shaft concentric and stops flight-to-tube rub.

Key features
- One-piece cast body with stiffening ribs resists the bending load that distorts fabricated hangers.
- Split housing machined and bolted as a matched pair so the bore stays round and the cap cannot be swapped.
- Bore machined concentric to the mounting face, which keeps the shaft aligned and stops flight-to-tube contact.
- Generous radii and clean as-cast surfaces reduce crack initiation in a part that sees constant vibration.
- Ductile iron grades absorb the vibration and impact of start-up under a full load of grain.
- Galvanized, zinc flake or epoxy coating systems specified for outdoor storage and fertilizer exposure.
Applications
- Grain cart and grain trailer unloading augers
- Portable and stationary grain handling augers
- Grain dryer and bin sweep auger intermediate supports
- Feed bin, seed tender and fertiliser handling augers
- Any screw conveyor intermediate bearing support on the farm
Quality and compliance
Grain auger flight bearing hangers from Ningbo Ruican are manufactured under the IATF 16949 certified quality system, with a control plan covering melt practice, heat treatment, machining and coating. PPAP and first article inspection (FAI) documentation is available for new programmes, and material certification to EN 10204 3.1 is standard on every batch. Housing bores, split-face flatness and mounting hole positions are verified on every production sample, and coating thickness is recorded, so hangers bolt up without shimming and the shaft alignment holds in service.
Frequently asked questions
1. Can you supply the hanger with the bearing or liner already fitted?
Yes. We can supply the machined hanger bare, or fitted with the customer-specified bearing, bronze bush or polymer liner, greased and packed as a complete service assembly.
2. How do you keep the split housing aligned after machining?
The cap and base are machined as a matched pair in one operation and then marked with a common serial number, so the bore stays round and the two halves are never mixed.
3. Which material suits an auger that runs fertiliser as well as grain?
For mixed fertiliser and grain duty we usually recommend QT500-7 with a zinc flake or epoxy coating, and we can upgrade the bore area to high-manganese Hadfield steel where sliding abrasion is severe.
4. Do you offer hot-dip galvanizing on machined hangers?
We do. Machined threads are protected or masked before galvanizing, and where necessary critical bores are re-machined or reamed after coating to keep the final fit inside tolerance.
5. What is the minimum order quantity for a custom hanger?
We accept prototype and pre-series quantities as well as volume production. For a new custom design the practical minimum is set by tooling, and we will advise whether investment casting patterns or a sand-cast pattern plate gives the better cost at your volume.
6. Can you improve a hanger that is failing by cracking at the ribs?
Yes. We review the failure, adjust rib thickness and radii to remove the stress concentration, and can move to a higher toughness grade such as QT450-10 or add a stress-relief cycle before machining.
